Version 9 is our most substantial update to Pathways in nearly 5 years, and coincides with the program’s 10th birthday!

A key focus of this latest version has been to simplify common processes and make them as fast as possible. Things like compliance reporting for new DEST LCP’s, faster letter writing and a new reminder system all aim to enhance Pathway’s already comprehensive data management tools and make it easier than ever to manage your data, not let it manage you.

Exciting New Interface Design

Pathways 9 includes a lot more detail about student, employer and placement records, which has meant we’ve had to re-write some screens to ensure they are still as easy to read and use as in previous versions .

We’ve moved all the major tasks like finding, adding, deleting and listing records to a navigation bar across the top and also grouped common information together in a more logical layout. As 99% of your work will be within this screen, we’ve spent LOTS of time making it logical, attractive and fast to operate. Things you’ll appreciate when you want to leave work on time!

2006 DEST Support

Pathways 9 is designed to be compatible with any reporting requirements DEST releases in 2006, and all users with version 9 will receive free reporting updates to Pathways to support their 2006 DEST report obligations. Pathways is the only database available in Australia with DEST statistical support built-in and support for the new LCP arrangements.

Version 9 also supports MULTI-SITE reporting, allowing you to attach every student, employer, placement, school and coordinator record to a specific site value, allowing you to easily manage a number of officers with one database if you have users connecting over the internet to a central database. In addition, if you are collating statistics from a number of offices with separate data files, the “site” value allows you to easily report on each office clearly as every report and record is tagged with the related site.

2005 NSW Student Placement Records Built In
Pathways 9 has been designed to support the late 2005 NSW Student Placement Record update fully, and extends on the existing features offered by the SPR patch released for version 8 in October 2005. By including more matching fields such as risk assessment details and the like, Pathways 9 is the only application available in Australia with full NSW SPR support with its many new fields and requirements.

One-Click Letter Creation with the new Pathways Briefcase

Microsoft Office offers some amazing mail-merge features to allow you to extract your data from Pathways for letters, labels and envelopes. However in recent years the process for creating mail-merges within Microsoft Word has become increasingly complicated.

Pathways 9 introduces the ability to set up multiple letter templates or students, employers and placements that can be printed individually with ease directly from the Pathways screen.  By setting up your own letters using our easy to follow guidelines your can have Pathways automatically “fill in the gaps” of your letter template for quick letter printing. All your Pathways documents are conveniently stored in the new Pathways Document Briefcase for rapid access.

New Security System
Pathways 9 now includes an integrated security system to provide an additional level of data protection beyond that provided by your Microsoft Windows Login. In addition to the ability to provide username and password protection to the entire Pathways program, you can also limit access to some of the setup and administration functions such as the Tools menu to limit the risk of key setup settings being changed without authorisation. This is particularly important in branch office scenarios where a head office wishes to control the key lookup lists used for all student, employer and placement records.

New Integrated Reporting

Pathways 9 now includes an integrated summary reporting system to make accessing reports faster and easier than ever before.  All reports that relate to an individual record such as an employer, student or placement are now printed directly from the actual record detail screen, saving you finding the record again in the reporting system.

In addition, summary and statistical reports can be accessed at the same time as other screens in Pathways. Directly from the new home screen that presents everything your need to work faster at your fingertips. Reports are now also grouped into far fewer screens and in easier to understand lists such as “bulk”, “summary” and “statistics”.

Record Reminders

Pathways now includes a reminder system that allows you to attach a “reminder” flag to any student, employer or placement for followup. These reminders can be viewed directly from the home screen and are an invaluable tool for keeping up to date with individual registrations or placements. For example you may insert a reminder on a placement to followup paperwork in a week, or insert a reminder on an employer to verify the work safety and risk assessement conditions tomorrow.

With the reminders and correspondence logs, Pathways aims to keep you up to date on each and every record in the system, ensuring that as your program grows and the amount of data increases, you can still manage the day-to-day record management tasks in an integrated, easy way.

Enhanced Backup

Pathways now supports multiple time-stamped backups of your precious Pathways data allowing you to make any number of Pathways Data snapshots over a period of time for maximum data safety and security.

The new backup manager now allows you to see your backup history and log, providing a great audit list and reminder for those always important backups!
